With a population of about 990,000 people San Jose is the third largest city in California and the tenth largest in the United States. San Jose's ethnical composition is 47% White, 30% Asian, 0.5% Pacific Islander, 3% African American, and 0.5% Native American. The city features the largest Vietnamese community in the United States. The ethnical diversity is very visible in San Jose as many street signs are in English, Spanish, and even Vietnamese and there are several Spanish and Vietnamese language newspapers.
