Founded in 1822, Jackson is the capital of the State of Mississippi, USA. Also referred to as the “Crossroads of the South”, Jackson is one of two seats of Hinds County, together with Raymond. The Eudora Welty House Museum, the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, and the Old Capitol Museum of Mississippi History are some of the numerous museums located in Jackson.

The city is home to various events like the USA International Ballet Competition (USA IBC), which is one of the oldest and most respected competitions in the world; it is hosted every four years in June. The Crossroads Film Festival, the Festival Latino, and Mississippi State Fair are examples of annual events taking place in Jackson. Jackson also has several professional teams in baseball, basketball, football, hockey, and soccer.
