Founded in 1801, Buffalo is the second biggest city in the U.S. state of New York, located in Erie County. As well as being the seat of the county, it is also the main city of the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area. It has several nicknames, for instance, the SoCity of Light, Queen City of the Lakes, and The City of Good Neighbors. The public sector also has a lot of employees (around 95,000) due to universities among others. With regard to transportation network, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) provides bus service, and Metro Rail is the rail transit system. Both serve the city and the suburban areas. There are also train stations operated by Amtrak and VIA Rail. The Buffalo Niagara International Airport, situated in the city of Cheektowaga, serves Buffalo and attracts customers from the entire Great Lakes Region. Every year, more than five million passengers use this airport which offers some of the least expensive flights.

As for culture, there are many public and private art galleries throughout the city, like the Albright-Knox Art Gallery (modern and contemporary art). Buffalo hosts some festivals such as Shakespeare in Delaware Park, a free outdoor Shakespeare festival in the summer, or the Allentown Art Festival, a street festival. Buffalo is also a passionate sports town and has teams in different sports such as baseball, basketball, football, hockey, lacrosse, and soccer.
